The Grand Reopening

Now, where were we before being so rudely interrupted? Ah, yes; our fledgling venture had taken off with The Norfolk Almanac proving a likely favourite for all seasons.

Launched to considerable acclaim last October, it dominated the local books charts over the festive period and continued to impress throughout the county and way beyond during opening stages of 2020.

Then came the international coronavirus pandemic with all its intense ramifications to turn so many lives, hopes and plans upside down. Now the lockdown marathon is easing to usher fresh opportunities and ambitions into the open – although extreme caution is still required for safety’s sake.

It shouldn’t be too long before a semblance of life as we knew and appreciated it returns as long as we heed all relevant advice. Health has to take priority over inevitable lingering impatience to “get the economy moving again”.

We know many folk confined to barracks for long spells during March, April and May used The Norfolk Almanac to find little shafts of sunlight through banks of dark clouds.

“A tonic a day keeps the gloom at bay” and “These little gems were made for a testing time like this” are just a couple of uplifting messages received from readers. A volume designed to bring a glint to the most jaundiced eye has been doing its job!

Now, as high summer approaches, we feel the safety and security climate is strong enough to support our decision to reopen the Harnser Press service for those requesting postal delivery.

Signed copies, with special personal messages if required, can again wing their way to destinations near and far… probably even beyond “foreign parts” like Ipswich, Chelmsford and London!

Norfolk exiles, especially those with a birthday or special anniversary coming up, will savour a whiff of home while culture-lovers in general  can appreciate anew the unique dialect and humour of Nelson’s County.
